Why Generic Frames Are Boring...
By Vettil
Look, no one's here to shame anyone. We've all bought those £5 frames from the high street. They're fine! Until you put a photo in them and suddenly your gorgeous wedding pic or that perfect shot of the kids looks... flat. Boring. Like it doesn't deserve to be there.

Frame the evidence all you want, but cheap frames don't do your photos justice. (Okay that one was a stretch.)
The problem with most frames is they're just a border. They don't do anything for the image itself. A personalised wooden photo frame, especially when it turns your photo into something more, that's different. Your picture becomes part of the object. It lights up when backlit, it has depth. It actually feels special. Like the frame and the photo are finally on the same page. Literally.

That's what we're going for with Poetry of Light. A custom lithophane frame. Real wood. Your photo turned into a backlit 3D picture. (How does it compare to canvas or a standard frame? We've got a breakdown.) It's the kind of personalised photo frame that makes people stop and ask "wait, where did you get that?" And then you get to feel smug for approximately seven seconds before you have to explain it.
We're a small team in the UK making these to order. Every frame is custom. Your size, your wood, your photo. No mass production, no fake finishes. Just something that actually holds up when you look at it every day. Not to get too philosophical, but we're really trying to put the "art" in "frame art". (I'm so sorry.)

Here's the thing: every order includes a 2D print of your photo as well. So if you ever want to switch back to a more traditional look—the classic flat picture in a frame—you've got that. You're not locked in. The lithophane is the star, but the 2D version comes with it. Best of both worlds. (We're really trying to put the "frame" in "framework" here. No? Just us?)

Honestly the best way to get the difference is to see it. Head to our gallery and scroll through. Samples and some photos. Makes a world of difference. Or read how we turn your favourite photo into something you'll want on the mantel. If you're tired of frames that make your photos look worse instead of better, this might be what you're looking for.
